Sarah R Key, born 1971 in Derbyshire. Lives and works in the Midlands. Studied PhD Painting and Theory at Loughborough University and MA Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art.

Solo exhibitions include: Museum of No Fixed Agenda, Tarpey Gallery, Castle Donington, Leicestershire, 2011; Walter’s Attic, City Gallery, Leicester, 2009. Selected group exhibitions include: Mostyn Open, Oriel Mostyn Gallery, Llandudno, Wales, 2011; Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy, London, 2010; Ostrale '09 (invited artist), Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst, Dresden, Germany, 2009. Key was awarded The Attenborough Prize, One Leicester Open 20.

Key’s work draws on contemporary and historical cultural references that collapse into the dreamlike or nightmarish, transformed into an imaginary world inhabited by the odd hybrid creatures of her invention.
